New Work: Paper Tiger Posted on 20 Apr 2012

New work for a really exciting upcoming project, which I won't give any details about lest I ruin the surprise. I will say, however, that things will be kicking off in June and has propelled me to a mere four degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon. It's a big day for me.

Some early concept sketches. "Paper tigers" in art are traditionally depicted as origami-based creatures (although Bill Watterson helpfully defines the concept as "a tiger with a paper route" in Calvin and Hobbes)... I'm bad at origami, and believe that tigers should live their lives free from the burden of gainful employment, so I wanted to do something a little different. I envisioned a paper-craft tiger cut out and assembled from a printed cardstock model kit.
A vigilante paper doll.
Some apt words on the subject of flammable felines, courtesy of poet William Blake.

Indeed they are! And if there's a better implement for hunting paper tigers, I have yet to find it....
